PLEASE NOTE:  * This tour is suitable ONLY for guests who can comfortably hike up to
10 km per day at a reasonable pace carrying a small daypack. 
* Hiking boots are recommended but all-terrain trainers will suffice. 
* Luggage restrictions apply to one suitcase and one hiking daypack per person.

To confirm your booking a non-refundable Booking Fee of R 500.00 per person is payable.
On International payments a Handling Fee of R 350.00 per person is charged

DAY 1 - PIEKENIERSKLOOF PASS, CEDERBERG & PAKHUIS PASS, CLANWILLIAM & RAMSKOP GARDENS

09H00 – Once we have everyone “on board” we travel along the N7 over the Piekenierskloof Pass and along the way we stop for a cup of tea and then on to Clanwilliam where we head into the majestic Cederberg via the Pakhuis Pass.  We stop off at the grave of the iconic South African Dr Louis Leipoldt and then on to Traveller’s Rest where we walk the 4 km Sevilla’s Bushmen Trail and enjoy a light lunch - this is an easy meander with the emphasis on exploring nine fascinating rock art sites. 
In the afternoon we visit the Ramskop Gardens in Clanwilliam for a display of regional plants.  On our drive  to Vanrhynsdorp where we will overnight we hope to pop into the Klawer Winery fo a quick wine-tasting.

DAY 2 – VANRHYNSDORP, THE KOKERBOOM SUCCULENT NURSERY, THE KNERSVLAKTE & THE GIFBERG.

08h00: We start a busy day with a visit to the Knersvlakte where we will be treated to a guided walk by an area specialist.  Here we will experience first-hand the unique growing conditions and fascinating succulent plants that are so well-adapted to this harsh environment.  Back in Vanrhynsdorp we visit the succulent nursery for tea before driving through the Maskam region and over the scenic Gifberg Pass to our overnight stop at the Gifberg Holiday Farm.  Here we will enjoy a light lunch before setting off with yet another local specialist guide who will take us on a 2-hour interpretative afternoon hike. 
Dinner is an “Al-fresco” braai under southern stars with “kontrei stories” and tales about ancient peoples.

DAY 3 – BUSHMEN PAINTINGS, MOUNTAIN HIKES, GIFBERG WATERFALL & NIEUWOUDTVILLE

07h00 - This morning we grab an early breakfast and set off with our guide on an 8km hike to discover the Matsikamma mountain plateau – we follow the “spoor” of small game, learn about rooibos tea cultivation and get acquainted with local flora.  We view breath-taking Bushmen paintings, admire dramatic mountain landscapes and enjoy our packed lunch at rock pools and cascading waterfalls.  We should be packed and ready to set off by vehicle again around mid-day when we drive the rest of the Gifberg pass via the Waterfall and head off over the impressive Vanryhyns Pass to Nieuwoudville.

DAY 4 – NIEUWOUDTVILLE WATERFALL, KOKERBOOM FOREST, THE HANTAM BOTANICAL GARDENS & MATJIESFONTEIN FLOWER FARM.

08h00: After breakfast we drive to the Nieuwoudtville Waterfall and the Kokerboom Forest before heading to the Hantam Botanical Gardens for an 8km explorative walk of this unique biome and the fascinating geography of the so-called “Bulb Capital of the World”.  We will enjoy packed lunches on the hike and this afternoon we explore the flower farm Matjiesfontein with its’ floral treasures before we leave Nieuwoudtville for our accommodation on the Atlantic Ocean in Strandfontein.

DAY 5 – STRANDFONTEIN, A CLIFF-TOP WALK TO DORINGBAAI & LANGEBAAN

08h00: This morning we meet our local guide who has an impressive knowledge of the uniquely adapted vegetation of the Sandveld for a 4-hour coastal walk to Doringbaai.  This spectacular route follows narrow footpaths along rugged coastal cliffs overlooking the cold Atlantic Ocean.  A delicious Fish&Chips lunch and local tipple awaits us in our “special secret” venue at Doringbaai.  After lunch we meander along bumpy gravel roads through this remote area to the coastal village of Langebaan where we will spend the night.

DAY 6 - THE LANGEBAAN LAGOON, THE WEST COAST NATIONAL PARK AND POSTBERG.

07h30:  We make an early start after breakfast to get to the West Coast National Park by 08h30. 
Once inside the Postberg Nature Reserve we do a wondrous 10km hike which features fabulous views, lovely wild flowers, a variety of antelope and game species as well as birds of the West Coast National Park.
We rest at a beautiful sandy beach cove to enjoy our packed lunches and sadly by 14:30 we have to leave the park to be back in Cape Town by 17:00.

* Also included is a morning stop for tea, as well as water/tea/coffee/soft drinks at meals. 
Alcoholic beverages are for your own account. 
Accommodation and restaurants are carefully selected and the best to be found in Namaqualand.

* Your Guide/s: You will be in the capable hands of a registered and qualified Tour Guide with years of experience and a wealth of local knowledge.  As an added extra we make use of local guides in certain areas to enrich the experience for our guests.
