DAY 1 - PIEKENIERSKLOOF PASS, CEDERBERG AND PAKHUIS PASS, CLANWILLIAM
AND RAMSKOP GARDENS
08h30 – Once we have everyone “on board” we travel north up the West Coast along the N7 over the Piekenierskloof Pass which is considered to be the “gateway” to the North. Along the way we stop for a cup of tea and then on to Clanwilliam where we head into the majestic Cederberg via the Pakhuis Pass. We stop off at the grave of the iconic South African Dr Louis Leipoldt and then drive on to Traveller’s Rest where we walk the 4 km Sevilla’s Bushmen Trail and enjoy a packed lunch - this is an easy meander with the emphasis on exploring nine fascinating rock art sites.
In the afternoon we return to Clanwilliam to visit the Ramskop Gardens for a display of regional plants and lovely vistas over the Clanwilliam dam before heading off to Vanrhynsdorp where we will overnight.

DAY 2 – VANRHYNSDORP, THE KOKERBOOM SUCCULENT NURSERY, THE KNERSVLAKTE AND GIFBERG.
08h00: We start a busy day with a 30 km drive north of Vanrhynsdorp to the Knersvlakte Spens where we will be treated to a guided walk by an area specialist. Here we will experience first-hand the unique growing conditions and fascinating succulent plants that are so well-adapted to this harsh environment.
Once back in Vanrhynsdorp we visit the succulent nursery where we will have our packed lunches before driving through the Maskam region and over the scenic Gifberg Pass to our next overnight stop at the Gifberg Holiday Farm.
At the farm we will be met by yet another local specialist guide who will take us on a 2-hour interpretative afternoon hike. Tonight our hosts will treat us to a braai for dinner and our guide will keep us entertained with fascinating “kontrei stories” and tales about ancient peoples and southern stars.

DAY 3 – BUSHMEN PAINTINGS, MOUNTAIN HIKES, GIFBERG WATERFALL AND NIEUWOUDTVILLE
07h00 - This morning we grab an early breakfast and set off with our guide on a long hike to discover the Matsikamma mountain plateau – here we follow the “spoor” of small game, learn more about rooibos tea cultivation and get acquainted with the local flora. We view breath-taking Bushmen paintings, admire dramatic mountain landscapes and enjoy packed lunches at rock pools and cascading waterfalls.
We should be packed and ready to set off by vehicle again around mid-day when we drive the rest of the Gifberg pass via the Waterfall and head off over the impressive Vanryhyns Pass to Nieuwoudville.

DAY 4 – NIEUWOUDTVILLE WATERFALL, KOKERBOOM FOREST, THE HANTAM BOTANICAL GARDENS AND MATJIESFONTEIN FLOWER FARM.
08h00: After breakfast we drive to the Nieuwoudtville Waterfall and the Kokerboom Forest before heading to the Hantam Botanical Gardens for a 8km explorative walk of this unique biome and the fascinating geography of the so-called “Bulb Capital of the World”. We will enjoy packed lunches on the hike and in the afternoon we explore the flower farm Matjiesfontein with its’ floral treasures. This evening we will stroll through the historic “Sandstone” village to dinner at a local restaurant.

DAY 5 - VREDENDAL, STRANDFONTEIN, A CLIFF-TOP WALK TO DORINGBAAI
AND ON TO HISTORIC ST HELENABAAI.
08h00: After a hearty breakfast we need to be back on the road and travel via Vredendal and Lutzville to Strandfontein. Here we meet our local guide who will escort us on a walk with unique coastal vegetation along the rugged coastal cliffs overlooking the cold Atlantic ocean to Doringbaai. A delicious Fish&Chips lunch awaits us in an interesting venue at Doringbaai. This afternoon we have a long drive along the Sandveld coast to St Helena Bay where we will be spending the night.

DAY 6 - THE LANGEBAAN LAGOON, THE WEST COAST NATIONAL PARK AND POSTBERG.
07h30: We make an early start after breakfast to get to the West Coast National Park by 08h30.
Once inside the Postberg Nature Reserve we do a strenuous 14km hike with where we will concentrate on the flowers of the West Coast and the West Coast National Park. We stop at a beautiful sandy beach cove to enjoy our packed lunches.
By 14:30 we have to leave the park to be in Cape Town by 17:00.

* Our Bus: We travel in a “rugged” 10-seater bus which is fairly restricted for passengers & luggage.
* Our Accommodation and Meals: ALL MEALS are included in the price of our tours with a packed lunch on all hiking days.
Also included is a morning stop for tea, as well as water/tea/coffee/soup and soft drinks at meals. Alcoholic beverages are for your own account.
Accommodation and restaurants are carefully selected and the best to be found in Namaqualand.
