DAY 1 -  PIEKENIERSKLOOF PASS, CLANWILLIAM, THE CLANWILLIAM FLOWER SHOW, A ROOIBOS TEA EXPERIENCE, THE RAMSKOP FLOWER GARDENS AND KLAWER WINE CELLARS

09h00: Once we have all “on board” we travel along the N7 and over the Piekenierskloof Pass which is considered as the “gateway” to the North.  Along the way we stop for a cup of tea and cake and from Citrusdal onward we should start noticing lovely patches of flowers along the roadway as well as vast groves of citrus and Rooibos tea plantations.
In Clanwilliam we enjoy a light lunch, visit a Rooibos Tea Factory and/or the Clanwilliam Flower Show
and the Ramskop Flower Gardens.  In the afternoon we head further North on the N7 and pop into the Klawer Winery for a wine-tasting before ending off a busy day in Vredendal where we overnight.

Accommodation & Dinner: Belle Ombre, Vredendal (www.belleombre.co.za)

DAY 2 – VANRHYNSDORP, VANRHYNS PASS, NIEWOUDTVILLE, MATJIESFONTEIN FARM, THE HANTAM BOTANICAL RESERVE, THE NIEUWOUDVILLE WATERFALL AND THE KOKERBOOM FOREST

09h00: After a hearty breakfast we visit the succulent nursery in Vanrhynsdorp to marvel at the rare collection of plants that are so well adapted to this harsh climate.  From here we head up the spectacular Vanrhyns’ Pass to Nieuwoudville where our first stop is the lovely old sandstone Dutch Reformed Church for tea and traditional pancakes.
The rest of the morning is spent exploring the flower wonder of Matjiesfontein Farm and if time allows we will pop in to the Hantam Botanical Reserve for a short interpretive walk before a light lunch.  To end off the day we visit the Nieuwoudville Waterfall and the fascinating Kokerboom Forest.

Accommodation: Belle Ombre, Vredendal (www.belleombre.co.za)
Dinner: De Keldery, Namaqua Wines, Vredendal

DAY 3 – GARIES, SPRINGBOK AND THE GUCHAB NATURE RESERVE, OKIEP AND NABABEEB

08h00:  This morning we need to make an early start before the long drive to Springbok via Garies.
Along the way we stop for tea and cake at the quaint Garies Padstal before embarking on the final leg to Springbok where we will enjoy a light lunch.  We then go in search of the wild flowers of the Guchab Nature Reserve, Okiep & Nababeeb.  Following good winter rains, the flower display should be spectacular. We will take you where the flowers are at their best until late in the afternoon when we head south again to Garies for a relaxed evening spent in our country guesthouse where we enjoy a delicious “local” dinner.

Accommodation & Dinner: Sophias’ Guesthouse, Garies (www.sophiaguesthouse.co.za)

DAY 4 – NAMAQUA NATIONAL PARK AND SKILPAD VIA KAMIESKROON

09h00:  After a relaxed breakfast we are in for a treat as we travel via Kamieskroon to the Namaqua National Park (also known as Skilpad).  Here we would like to spend at least 3 hours since this is a photographer’s floral delight where we will feast the eye and enjoy our morning tea and a packed picnic lunch.  After lunch we need to be on our way again to get back to our accommodation in Vredendal.

Accommodation & Dinner: Belle Ombre, Vredendal (www.belleombre.co.za)

DAY 5 - BACK TO CAPE TOWN VIA THE LANGEBAAN LAGOON, THE WEST COAST NATIONAL PARK
AND POSTBERG.

08h00: After an early breakfast we depart Vredendal and today we will concentrate on the flowers of the Sandveld along the West Coast and the West Coast National Park.  From Clanwilliam we travel via Leopoldtsville, Dwarskersbos and Velddrif to Langebaan.  We stop for tea and cake along the way and enter the West Coast National park at the Langebaan entrance and enjoy the natural beauty of the Langebaan lagoon.  A visit to the Postberg Flower Reserve is a highlight of the tour and we enjoy packed lunches in the park.
By 14:30 we leave the park to be back in Cape Town by 17:00.
