We visit Clanwilliam, Vanrhynsdorp & Nieuwoudtville returning through the Sandveld along the West Coast via Velddrif, Langebaan and the West Coast National Park.

DAY 1 -  PIEKENIERSKLOOF PASS, CLANWILLIAM, THE CLANWILLIAM FLOWER SHOW, A ROOIBOS TEA EXPERIENCE, THE RAMSKOP FLOWER GARDENS AND KLAWER WINE CELLARS

09h00: Once we have all “on board” we travel along the N7 and over the Piekenierskloof Pass which is considered as the “gateway” to the North.  Along the way we stop for a cup of tea and a snack and from Citrusdal onward there should be lovely patches of flowers along the roadway as well as vast groves of citrus and Rooibos tea plantations. 
In Clanwilliam we enjoy a light lunch, visit a Rooibos Tea Factory and/or the Clanwilliam Flower Show
and the Ramskop Flower Gardens.  In the afternoon we head further North on the N7 and pop into the Klawer Winery for a wine-tasting before ending off a busy day in Vredendal/Vanrhynsdorp where we overnight.

DAY 2 – VANRHYNSDORP, VANRHYNS PASS, NIEWOUDTVILLE, MATJIESFONTEIN FARM, THE HANTAM BOTANICAL RESERVE, THE NIEUWOUDVILLE WATERFALL AND THE KOKERBOOM FOREST

09h00: After a hearty breakfast we visit the succulent nursery in Vanrhynsdorp to marvel at the rare collection of plants that are so well adapted to this harsh climate. 
We then head up the spectacular Vanrhyns’ Pass to Nieuwoudville where our first stop is at the lovely old sandstone Dutch Reformed Church for tea and traditional pancakes.  The rest of the morning is spent exploring the flower wonder of the farm Matjiesfontein and if time allows we could pop in to the Hantam Botanical Reserve to enjoy a short interpretive walk before our light lunch in Nieuwoudville. 
To end off the day we visit the Nieuwoudville Waterfall and the fascinating Kokerboom Forest.

DAY 3 – A COASTAL DRIVE ALONG THE SANDVELD TO LAMBERTSBAAI & BIRD ISLAND
AND THEN ON TO VELDDRIFT

 09h00: Today we go in search of coastal vegetation and flowers of the so-called “Sandveld biome”. 
We return Southwards along the N7 towards Clanwilliam where we make a right-turn and head off to Lamberts Bay on the coast where we will have lunch and visit the fascinating “Bird Island”. 
After lunch we continue on our way to Velddrif where we should see many lovely plants that have adapted so well to the harsh coastal conditions.  Before checking into our accommodation we will take a stroll down “Bokkomlaan” for a fascinating glimpse into the “local-is-lekker” culture of this community.  Velddrif is renowned for its rich diversity of waterfowl and the saltpans dotted along the edges of the estuary .

DAY 4 - BACK TO CAPE TOWN VIA LANGEBAAN, THE LANGEBAAN LAGOON,
THE WEST COAST NATIONAL PARK AND POSTBERG.

Today you can relax and enjoy a leisurely breakfast in our splendid accommodation!

09h00: We depart the hotel for “secret” stop along the way where we will partake of a fascinating tour and tea. Our next destination is Langebaan where we enter the West Coast National Park and enjoy the vast natural beauty of the Langebaan lagoon.A visit to the Postberg Flower Reserve is a highlight of the tour and we will enjoy packed lunches. By 14:30 we should have cameras full of memories before we leave the park to be back in Cape Town by 17:00.
