DAY 1 - PIEKENIERSKLOOF PASS, CLANWILLIAM, ROOIBOS TEA
AND THE RAMSKOP FLOWER GARDENS
09h00: We travel along the N7 and over the Piekenierskloof Pass which is considered as the “gateway” to the North. We stop along the way for a cup of tea and from Citrusdal onward the flower show starts. There should be lovely patches of flowers along the roadside between Citrusdal and Clanwilliam.
In Clanwilliam we enjoy a light lunch and in the afternoon we visit the Ramskop Flower Gardens,
a Rooibos Tea Factory and/or the Clanwilliam Flower Show.
This means that we have a full program before heading off to Vanrhynsdorp where we overnight.

DAY 2 – VANRHYNSDORP, VANRHYNS PASS, NIEWOUDTVILLE, MATJIESFONTEIN FARM,
THE NIEUWOUDVILLE WATERFALL AND THE KOKERBOOM FOREST
08h00: After a hearty breakfast we visit the succulent nursery in Vanrhynsdorp to marvel at the collection of plants that are so well adapted to this harsh climate. We then head up the spectacular Vanrhyns’ Pass to Nieuwoudville where our first stop is for tea and pancakes at the lovely old sandstone Dutch Reformed Church. The rest of the morning is spent exploring the flower wonder of the farm Matjiesfontein.
If time allows we could pop in to the Hantam Botanical Gardens to enjoy a short interpretive walk before our light lunch in Nieuwoudville.
To end off the day we visit the Nieuwoudville Waterfall and the fascinating Kokerboom Forest.

DAY 3 – A COASTAL DRIVE ALONG THE SANDVELD TO LAMBERTSBAAI & BIRD ISLAND
AND THEN ON TO ST HELENABAAI VIA VELDDRIFT
08h00: Today we are in search of coastal vegetation and flowers in the so-called “Sandveld biome”.
We return along the N7 towards Clanwilliam where we make a right-turn and head off to Lamberts Bay on the coast where we will have lunch and visit the fascinating “Bird Island”.
After lunch we should see many lovely plants that have adapted to the harsh coastal conditions.
If time allows we will take a walk down “Bokkomlaan” in Velddrift for a fascinating glimpse into the “local-is-lekker” culture of this community.
And then we drive on to the historic “fishing village” of St Helena Bay where we stay overnight.

DAY 4 - BACK TO CAPE TOWN VIA LANGEBAAN, THE LANGEBAAN LAGOON,
THE WEST COAST NATIONAL PARK AND POSTBERG.
Today you can relax and enjoy a leisurely breakfast whilst marvelling at the lovely ocean views!
09h00: We depart the guest house for Langebaan. We enter the West Coast National park at the Langebaan entrance and enjoy the beauty of the Langebaan lagoon. A visit to the Postberg Flower Reserve is a highlight of the tour and we will enjoy packed lunches in the park.
By 14:30 we leave the park to be back in Cape Town by 17:00.
